We have an open and trusting relationship with OPS. The school district employs a full-time staff member who is the lead facilitator of all CFY partner programs within OPS.
Lori Nekola works for Omaha Public Schools in Educational Service Unit #19, as Program Director. She coordinates Strategic tutoring in 40 OPS schools, providing guidelines for teachers to offer small group direct instruction to students who are most in need of extra support. She is the OPS liaison to Collective for Youth, working with the 21st Century Community Learning Centers that serve 30 OPS schools. Lori also serves as the Learning Community Liaison on behalf of the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Office of OPS.
Collective for Youth values both the leadership and the advocacy work that the Mayor’s office provides within the city of Omaha for out of school time programs.
The Mayor’s office has consistently supported the efforts of Collective for Youth’s system building work since 2007. Through its work in the community, the mayoral administration has continually validated the importance of out of school time youth programs.
