Do you know the difference between active learning and hands-on learning? Giving youth materials is just the beginning. This interactive workshop introduces the “ingredients” of active learning, explains the role that active learning plays in the experiential learning cycle, and helps participants create more powerful learning opportunities for youth.

Do the youth in your program have opportunities to work together in groups, teaching and learning from each other? Cooperative learning is an excellent way to nurture youth leadership, build community, and keep things fun. This interactive workshop will equip participants with grouping strategies and ways to think about building cooperative learning into any program offering.

Collective for Youth is offering a three-day Summer Institute program this summer at the UNO Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center. This 3 day training will help out of school time professionals in “Building You,” “Building Culture,” and “Building Your Program.” The training will be facilitated by Gwyn Williams, Program Director at Collective for Youth and LaRon Henderson, Program Quality Director at Collective for Youth.

Collective for Youth in partnership with the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality will be hosting a Youth Work Methods Train-the-Trainer event from July 20-22 at the University of Nebraska Omaha. This training will prepare participants to lead a series of ten interactive and hands-on workshops that are aligned to the Program Quality Assessment (PQA) and that provide participants with practical skills that are geared to improve the quality of interactions with youth. This series of trainings are designed to empower direct-staff or anyone interested in working with youth with tools that will increase the quality of their work with youth. Anyone in the community is welcome to sign up. All workshops are FREE, but registration is required.
